Alaska Trout Fishing
The glacial waters of the Kenai River are home to beautiful native Rainbow Trout; some of the prettiest colored trout you will ever see! It's not uncommon to catch 100 trout in a day. The Rainbow Trout of the Kenai River come in all sizes and colors.

In 2005, Fish and game passed a new regulation allowing anglers to keep Rainbow Trout caught from the mouth of the Kenai River to Lower Skilak Lake which are 18 inches and under, and Rainbow Trout 16 inches and under from the mouth of the upper Skilak Lake to the mouth of Kenai Lake.

When you land your monster, our guides will take a digital picture and tape the length and width of the trout. This give us all of the information needed to calculate the weight of your monster rainbow. After you have the weight of the fish you can keep the photographs for memories, make a fiberglass reproduction or spend a little more and get a hand carved reproduction made from your photo.

Rainbow and Dolly varden season opens June 12th on all of the Kenai Peninsula streams. At this time of the year this rainbow fishing is decent, but if you are looking for the best trout fishing you’ll ever see, you need book a trip in September through October!

There is nothing better than hooking a 10lb + rainbow on 5 or 6 wt fly rod. You can fish for these hogs in a guided boat where you will catch a lot of trout and dolly’s. For the fly fisherman, if the water is low enough, we can pull over to a gravel bar and do some fly rod fishing. Fly rods are available to use, or if you would like to use your own rod you are more then welcomed to.

To see some more Rainbow and Dolly pictures see our photo gallery and for a couple of legendary hogs look at our Hall of Fame.
